How to Measure Jeans (Flat Lay Method)

Lay your jeans flat on a hard surface. Smooth out wrinkles but don’t stretch the fabric. Use a measuring tape and follow these steps:

Waist

Measure straight across the top of the waistband from one edge to the other. Double this number for the full waist circumference.

Hip:

Measure across the jeans at the widest part of the hips — usually about 2 inches (5 cm) below the bottom of the fly. Double this measurement.

Front Rise:

Measure from the crotch seam up to the top of the front waistband.

Back Rise:

Flip the jeans and measure from the crotch seam to the top of the back waistband.

Leg Opening:

Measure straight across the bottom hem of one leg, then double the number.
